Wedding Photographer Derbyshire
Moving out of the city centre into the edge of the Peak District was one of the best decisions I ever made. As a wedding photographer being near the amazing Derbyshire Dales and the wonderful Peaks and waters of the Peak District is one of the most incredible places to be.

I love nothing more than an adventurous couple who want to embrace
the wildness of getting married outdoors or even have a romantic
couples shoot outside after they’ve had their civil ceremony. I
love nothing more than putting on a pair of walking boots and
hiking up a mountain or finding a waterfall and getting the most
amazing, romantic photographs with stunning, dramatic scenery as a
backdrop.
One of my most memorable elopement weddings in the Peak District
was with Naomi and Ollie. They had their civil Ceremony at
Manchester Registry Office and then decided to say their own
personal vows to each other on top of a hill in the Peak District.
It was just the two of them saying extremely heartfelt and
sentimental words to each other on a windy hill with a bright blue
sky and no one but the sheep for company. I think since Covid came
into our lives couples have rethought the way they want to get
married and maybe changed their minds from having big, lavish
expensive ceremonies and decided instead to have more intimate
micro weddings.
As a wedding photographer who loves the outdoors this is a
movement that I embrace fully. I will always love large weddings
but small micro weddings have my heart. As a photographer
capturing intimate moments of love between couples on their
wedding day is what really makes my heart sing. In Derbyshire
there are so many amazing places to get married.
One of my favourite venues to photograph a wedding in Derbyshire
is the West Mill. This is in impressive wedding venue, the fact it
keeps so many of its original features is what makes it so
special. I photographed the wedding of Steph and Carrick here and
fell completely in love with the charm and industrial feel of this
amazing venue. The exposed brick walls and the amazing Autumnal
colours made this one of my favourite ever weddings to photograph.
I think the history of the West Mill in Derbyshire and the actual
ceremony room in which the couple get married really stand out to
me as one of the outstanding places to be able to create wonderful
images as a wedding photographer. Steph and Carrick really
embraced the creative side of their wedding photography and
incorporated so many fun elements into the day.
They had smoke flares for themselves and their bridal party in two
different sets of colours. These were such fun to work with and
made their wedding photographs stand out and look really fun and
creative. They then had confetti and confetti cannons which looked
incredible and added a dynamic element to their photographs. I can
honestly say it was one of the best weddings I have ever had the
pleasure to photograph in my career as a wedding photographer.

The industrial side of Derbyshire really resonates with me, I have
always loved photo shoots in industrial areas. I love the softness
and romance of a wedding paired with the harder industrial
backdrop.
All the mills around the Derbyshire area are full of character and
a wonderful place to get married if you are looking for somewhere
different and creative where your wedding photography can look
different and contemporary but with elements of tradition and nods
to our history.
England has such a rich tapestry or history and when a couple
incorporates this into the wedding venue they have chosen it makes
me so happy to have the privilege to photograph their wedding.
